We Are Good

Today we celebrated our son’s first birthday. And everyone. Everyone. Reminded us how good we can be.

He is Loved. And the Love they show him is an example of the Love we can show to everyone in the world.

I feel immense appreciation & gratitude.

Which makes me want to share and spread the goodness we are bathed in. Remember that there is always someone who needs your help. So do good and help others. We need reminders of how good we can be.

Few special songs can bring tears to my eyes, and this is one of them.

About a decade ago, I- and I’m sure every other musician who saw it- fell in love with a movie called “Once,” about two people who meet & make beautiful music together. I recently discovered a song by one of those musicians, and it’s moved me so much in the past few days.

She writes & sings: ”

Prodigal Power!

In honor of Keith Flint, I remember some of my favorite songs from The Prodigy. Their sonic energy gave birth to what I always called TechnoMetal (if I had to name the genre). It sounded like the coolest evolution of music beyond traditional instruments I’d ever heard.

There is a remix of Smack My Bitch Up that has the best techno intro, but I haven’t tracked it down online yet. The original will do for now.

Summer 2018 Mix!

These songs formed my soundtrack of the summer that my child was born!

Ode to The Cranberries

The Cranberries were a soundtrack of my childhood. My Dad would play their CDs while we went on road trips around Florida. The first album I heard from them tattooed happy memories into my soul. Its gentle introduction to my ears. The start of a journey. Sunshine. Warmth. Safety & fun. That shiny silver disc spun the sounds of my summer vacations.

Their Music howls at us to not ignore our Dreams. Their songs wail at us to listen to others’ pain & suffering- to feel & witness war and injustice. And they comfort us to be okay with sadness, Empty-ness, Disappointment, and Linger-ing loneliness.

They are such a solid band with deep, beautiful songwriting. The bass, guitar, and drums are always doing something interesting & complimentary- while staying melodically & rhythmically balanced. They know when to get quiet, to just chill on the couch, and let emotion guide the song.

I recently discovered a single that I never heard before called, “Just My Imagination.” The video so adorably shines the 90s, complete with a giant belt-clipped CD player, flimsy headphones, and Playstation 1 graphics. She’s walking outside smiling & enjoying a lovely day, daydreaming about colorful butterflies and balloons, while children play. She’s Free to Decide, finding Salvation in Music. That’s how I want to remember the Faithful Departed Dolores.

So were The Cranberries one of the greatest bands of the 90s? There’s No Need to Argue.

In 2007, Nine Inch Nails released the masterpeace album, Year Zero. As part of this amazing Art project, Trent Reznor released all the multitracks for free, empowering Artists to remix & create new Music and providing a community for musicians to share their Art.

I’ve created a few of these remixes throughout the years, and I wanted to begin sharing some of my favorites:
