It’s the most important show on television right now. In every way, it’s been the spiritual successor to the Daily Show, but has evolved substantially from what the Jon Stewart team created.
Unlike regular tv programs, it’s liberated from the restrictions of advertising interruptions and censorship. This gives John Oliver & the writing team creative freedom and time to focus on important, complex topics. Impressively, they use their freedom responsibly, selecting/approaching topics in ways that other’s don/can’t- and they freely share their content online! They balance educating us with making us laugh, while creating meaningful content that inspires action.
